Special Games Table Rake
Hold'em is the round of the pub quiz where everyone already knows the answers. The special games are the round where they quietly change the rules on you.
This page covers the rake structures that apply at the special games tables in the poker room, so you can see how the fee is calculated before you take a seat.
What Counts as a Special Game
Special games are alternative poker formats, each with its own set of rules and its own rake structure rather than a single shared one.
Because the formats differ, the rake structure for each one is published on its own terms, and the details available here reflect the special games offered in your region.
How Rake Works at Special Games Tables
Rake at these tables is built from two parts:
- Percentage rake: a share of the pot, set according to the buy-in level or stake level of the table.
- Rake cap: an upper limit on how much can be taken from a single pot, no matter how large that pot becomes.
The cap that applies depends on how many players are at the table. Caps are published across three groupings:
- 2 Player Cap
- 3-4 Player Cap
- 5+ Player Cap
Both the percentage and the cap shift as you move between the different stake or buy-in levels listed for each format, so the structure for one table will not always match the table next to it.
Special Game Formats With Their Own Rake Structures
PokerStars Fusion, Swap Hold'em, Showtime Hold'em: names that sound more like a Saturday night television lineup than a row of card tables. Each of the formats below has its own published rake structure.
6+ Hold'em
Rake here is organised by buy-in level, with an Ante listed alongside each level rather than blinds.
All-In Poker
Structures are set by buy-in, with the corresponding Blinds shown for each level.
Swap Hold'em
Rake is organised by stake level, running from the smallest tables listed up to the highest.
PokerStars Fusion
Uses a stake-based structure, with percentage rake and caps set by player grouping.
Split Hold'em
Rake is listed by stake level across the range of tables offered.
Showtime Hold'em
Also organised by stake level, with its own percentage and cap combinations.
Where to Find the Full Rules
The rake structures on this page explain the fee only. For the rules of play behind each format, including how the button blind structure works in practice, the game rules page carries the full detail.
